Echocardiography Today : It's More than Just A Diagnostic Tool

The Indonesian Echocardiography Meeting (INAecho) is an annual meeting held by Indonesian Society of Echocardiography (ISE), bringing the current updates in echocardiography field to all participants. We welcome every medical practitioner, including; general cardiologists, echocardiologists, intensive cardiologists, intervention cardiologists, internists, general practitioners, sonographers, fellows on cardiovascular training and other specialists across Indonesia and other countries, who are interested in echocardiography. The 4th INAecho 2013 will be very special, as it is endorsed by The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) with the distinguished international guest speakers who will bring much more valuable inputs to all participants, and make this a fruitful meeting.

The theme of this year meeting is "Echocardiography today ; it's more than just a diagnostic tool". For a long time, echocardiography has been used as a tool for diagnosing many abnormalities in cardiology. Nowadays, numerous developments in cardiology management lead to a more developed utilization of echocardiography. The reason for the application of echocardiography in many procedures is that it is flexible, inexpensive, mobile, easy access, and capable of giving real time imaging result. These advantages give echocardiography an important role to assist procedures in emergency room and cardiovascular intensive care unit. Echocardiography is also useful for interventional procedures, such as cardiac resynchronization therapy, ventricular/atrial septal occluder, and even in the emerging interventional approach for valvular heart disease (e.g trans-catheter aortic valve implantation and mitral clips).

Further, an interesting panel discussion regarding how to develop a good echolab will be presented.
